How to verify the Twitter account?

Being as one of the famous and prominent platforms on social media. Twitter has become a stage for almost every influencer or the public figure to connect with their respective audience. Having a verified Twitter account distinguishes a person/organization real profile from any fakes one that might be created. The Twitter verified badge is a sought after stamp of authority in the Twitter verse, but it even requires some of the criteria to be met. One of essential pre-requisites to get your account verified is that the account should be of the public interest.

If your page or profile qualifies, then you may apply for a verified Twitter account. Here is a step by step guide that can get you there
Step 1: Update Your profile
The first step in this process is to make sure that all of your information in your profile is updated and accurate. This even includes your bio, header picture, your birthday and profile picture.

Step 2: Verify your phone number and confirm your email id
Now that you have updated your profile, the next step is to verify and confirm that your phone number and mail id respectively. You can verify your phone number by simply navigating to the ‘Settings and Privacy’ option in your profile menu, and clicking on the ‘Mobile’ in the menu which is placed on the left of your screen. Once you have entered your mobile number and clicked on the ‘Continue’, then you will even receive a One Time Password with which you can easily verify it.

In the same ‘Settings and Privacy’ option, you can even navigate to the ‘Account’ section and confirm your email ID.

Step 3: Set Your Tweets to ‘Public’

To get a verified Twitter account, make sure that your tweets should be set to public. You can do this by disabling the ‘Protect Your Tweets’ options under the ‘Privacy and Safety’ menu.

Step 4: Make Sure Your Profile Relates to You/Your Business

Your username, header picture, and profile picture should always relate to who you are, or your brand. This means that having a generic profile picture or the Twitter handle could hinder your chances of getting verified.

Step 5: Apply for Verification
Once your profile is ready then you can directly apply for the verification through the Twitter request verification form. Make sure that you provide any of the supporting documents or the website URL that could prove your impact in your respective field. For the personal accounts, Twitter might also ask you to attach a government-issued ID card. A group of moderators will then review your profile and make a decision. In case the verification request is denied, you may apply again in 30 days.
