Audition

First of all, what is an audition? An audition is a sample performance carried out by an artist or performer. Let’s check to Audition.

It typically involves the performer displaying their talent through a previously memorized and a rehearsed solo piece or by performing a work or piece of work given to the performer at the audition or shortly before.

In some cases, such as with a model or acrobat, the individual may asked to demonstrate a range of professional skills. Actors may asked to present a monologue. Singers will perform a song in a popular music context. A dancer will present a routine in a specific style, such as ballet, tap dance or hip-hop, or show his or her ability to quickly learn a choreographed dance piece.

The audition is a systematic process in which industry professionals select performers, which is in some ways are most likely lead to a job interview in the regular job market. In an audition, the employer is testing the ability of the applicant to meet the needs of the job and assess how well the individual will take directions and deal with changes.

After some auditions, after the performer has demonstrated their abilities in a given performance style, the audition panel may ask a few questions that resemble those used in standard job interviews (e.g.regarding availability, working hours, locations).

Usually, the locations where these auditions take place has crowded(not always the case) due to the accommodation of the general public or the popularity of the production house or the fact of it advertised in a popular place of information.

For example, if it has advertised on the TV or broadcasted on the Radio, there will a higher number of applicants as opposed to being advertised on the local newspaper.Indian Idol,Dance+,Canvas Laugh Factory, etc.are practitioners of open auditions.

Private Auditions:

Private auditions has auditions that has conducted in a private and intimate location. The selected applicant is provided with the specific date, time and location of where the audition will take place exactly.

Recall:

Recall happens when an applicant gets called back again after an audition. This may happen because you have short-listed by the production members. This does not necessarily mean that the applicant has got the job. For example, if they have auditioned 50 people, they callback 5 of them and the recalled applicant is among the short-listed 5. An applicant may get recalled several times before actually getting the job.

Screen Test:

A screening test has when an applicant has called in for an audition, given a short part of the script to memorise and then asked to perform on camera.

This has mainly done to verify if the applicant has suitable for the job. The final decision makers may or may not be present in the room when the fate of the applicant has sealed and the final decision has made.

Auditions are a long and tiring process and might take a long time to conduct. They are necessary for giving the production team a wide variety of options to choose for their job profile and help the decision-makers make a final call.
